HAHA I had to read this two or three times to get it... But aren't puns the lowest form of comedy? Also. Is popcorn really a vegetable?

My ability to detect puns in written English is greatly limited by the fact it is not my first language. Therefore, this comic makes me a sad panda. I never know if I miss something... Oh, and by the way, some kinds of fruit are considered vegetables when related to cooking, causing confusion.

Fever's problem is mine too. Could somebody explain this comic, please?
Mike Gioiawroteat 7:39am Sep 24
It's really nothing more than the Colonel being a corn kernal (which sound alike) who is now dead (or popped into popcorn). Just veggies (and grains) doing normal veggie (and grain) things.
