So... where do primary colors come from? The civilization of jellybeans are obviously new, and this is the very first generation having birth. However, the jellybean population is extremely intelligent. Every jellybean was created with the knowledge of their trade, may it be engineering, teaching and apparently nursing.
I'm with you SirWetBiscuitJr, about the jelly beans new civilization, because after a periode of time, mixing all the colors, most will be brown.

@yo and SirWetBiscuitJr.: This just shows that the Jellybeans are most likely very segregated. Either that, or the families of which these three adults belong are very "pure blooded." If the original 3 races are the 3 primary subtractive colors, then it seems that there has been some integration since the doctor is obviously not a primary shade. The fact that he's a doctor shows that the mixing of races can't be that much of a taboo (at least to the interracial couple ... and probably much to the chagrine of their parents). Of course, this is assuming that there is no dominance in any of the pigmentation phenotypes. Whatever... Maybe someday, us humans will mix enough to be a nice shade of brown... although I think my skin tone has quite a head start.

@Lailoken: This would be subtractive color mixing. Pigments are subtractive, light is additive.

hmm, i'd venture to suggest that perhaps the children are born the color that their primary parents would make, and as they get older, they become a primary color, like hitting puberty. that way all of the children don't end up being an ugly color in the future? You know, like all babies are born with blue eyes that change as they get older? i actually am not sure if that's 100% true, just throwing it out there. Perhaps overcomplicating things :)
and the purple adult is pulling some kind of crazy michael jackson or plastic surgery kind of thing :p

Maybe the colors combine for girls and recess for males, meaning that a line of girls could create a shade of mixed colors, whereas a boy would cause the colors to go back to prime, thus a red girl could be caused by a rarity wherin a girl recesses.
What if yellow is a recessive gene, the blue jellybean could have it but it would be overruled by the dominant blue gene. Something like that anyway.

First of all, I think that this entire species of a sweet candy with humanlike appendages was created in a second dimensional universe and added to this webpage simply for these posts to be put on this website, in some way indirectly causing the 2-d jellybean people universe to become a reality, only in a parallel universe. Not ours. In other words this picture is a window into a future dimension, and a self fulfilling prophecy. Please tell me if you have any objection to this hypothesis. But before you do, consider the fact that there are probably an infinite amount of universes, all created in differing periods of time. But for time travel to exist ( which it most probably does), then all moments in time would only seem to be going In some order, but would actually be occurring infinitely at the same time. Therefore proving that all of the infinite types of universes would exist at the same time and there would definitely be a universe only consisting of this picture. Then, considering all of the chain of events that happened after the fact of this picture being drawn and posted and the infinite amount of changes in this universe it caused, and therefore the infinite amount of new universes it started, then you would see that this picture caused the universe wholly dedicated to this picture to be created because there are an infinite amount of universes created from this.

i get it! the doctor is suprised because red and blue dont make orange. it turns out that red slept with yellow and blue didnt figure it out until now. so when yellow tries to bring red some flowers, blue wants to kill him. and thats why red is nervous(hince the sweat).
nobody here seems to understand this comic... A jelly bean is produced by a cloning process which requires dna from two beans; its color is a blend of the two "parent" beans. The bean in the green gown is the purple "offspring" of the red and blue beans. The yellow bean dropped by to introduce the new addition to the beanbag to its half-sibling orange bean, produced by a "one night stand" with the red bean. Yellowbean brought flowers, hoping to indice the blue bean to make a little green bean, thus filling out the rainbow. Seems to be working!
Quite touching, actually, if not really haha funny....
