I agree, concentration camps were a terrible blight on world history, but if you can laugh at the other cartoons on here, why not this one?

Actually there were colour cameras at the time. In fact, a lot of the video (and still) footage from WWII *is* in colour. It's just those 5 damned shots that EVERY SINGLE WWII DOCUMENTARY ON THE FACE OF THE PLANET shows that are in black and white. What wasn't common was colour Televisions (they'd been invented long before, but hadn't been widely commercialized yet). Because of that *television* footage was all in black and white (like Churchill's famous speech).
There was a WWII documentary on The History Channel recently that highlighted some of the colour video footage from WWII. They even managed to get it off the brittle old film in HD quality:) (and it was actual footage, not reenactments. Pretty gruesome stuff, really.).

I'm a jew, and I do think you can joke on anything including the holocaust... The problem I dislike this webcomic is that it isn't funny enough (or not funny at all), and it is difficult to explain why. If you joke on the holocaust you must have a damn good one to make it work.

This made me laugh. Dark humour isn't for everyone, and can touch raw nerves, so it's a dangerous one, but I thought this was very good. Orange Jews in a concentration camp... Bit close to the bone, but a clever pun nonetheless.

Well not to start ranking crimes, but I would say it's completely understandable for people to think this is over the line while the rape one isn't. Rape, however horrible, is not really comparable to the genocide. I also agree that it wasn't necessarily a funny enough pun to warrant the darkness. Actually, I laughed more at the poster who said his grandfather died in Auschwitz... when he fell out of his guard tower as it had the element of surprise.
I probably didn't laugh at the rape one either, unless I didn't get the reference. I don't remember it.

Absolutely awesome. And anybody "offended" by this should really save up a little cash so they can purchase a decent sense of humor. There are plenty of examples of genocide throughout history, the Holocaust being only one of them, and nobody seems to have much of a problem when other ones are used humorously. So yeah, fantastic comic.

This comic is just a play on the word "concentration" and isn't trying to make light of the actual holocaust. Unless of course there was a real orange holocaust that I am unaware of. Either way, I found it quite amusing.
Ha, I like how this comic has probably gotten the most comments and only because people find it offensive. I don't even think some of my favorite comics here have gotten this many comments.

I don't understand how people can be so offended by this. I mean, everyone reading this is under 50, and everyone under 50 wasn't in the holocaust. The holocaust was terrible, and it did happen, but COME ON! More than enough time to get past it. Stop crying about it. People are dying today in modern day holocausts in Africa, and nobody gives a damn. Christ you people are hypocrites.

the Holocaust is something which many people consider taboo. you aren't allowed to talk about it, read about it or joke about it. Hell some people even believe that it never happened. Just like Jesus . But believe it or not it is something that should be discussed regularly. And even if it comes up in a humourous way. Just talk about it. This comic is not filth it is not too soon. too soon would have been if this comic was made in 1946 but it was made in 2009. If you still have trouble talking about it then don't and refrain from making negative comments about someone else's creativity. We all have different types of humour those who have no humour at all should probably avoid looking at this site. Good work.

Too weak of a joke, not hilarious at all. I know fun, and I moderately laughed at all the other comic strips, but not at this one. It is just... weak! Some people will laugh at anything, though. Or just enjoy it because it refers to dying jews, and they are too left-wing-clichés not to laugh about it.

The comic is humorous, but some of the comments on it are uncalled for. The same way anyone is entitled to like a joke and comment on how funny they think it is, someone else can dislike it and comment on how they find it offensive - that does not warrant calling them things like "whiny jew" or "pissy ass fags." That crosses a far more egregious line than the comic (which is mildly tasteless but still amusing in my opinion.)
I know it is okay sometimes to make light of harsh situations in the past, but when it comes to something as serious as a mass genocide that happened only 80 years ago, you should be mindful and more respectful to people who may find this offensive. And everyone is is getting mad that people are offended, be a little empathetic, some peoples relatives were brutally murdered and that is not something that can be forgotten easily.
